One Year of Healing After Infant Loss: Growth, Lessons, and What’s Next
One year ago, I launched Healing After Infant Loss with no idea where it would lead. I hoped to create a safe space for people who have experienced pregnancy and infant loss, somewhere to share stories, access resources and find connection. Today, as I look back, I’m overwhelmed by what this community has become and excited about where it’s heading.
A Year of Videos and Conversations
In the past 12 months, I’ve uploaded 34 videos and interviewed 10 guests, with guest number 11 on the way. These conversations have covered a wide range of experiences from miscarriage and IVF to perspectives I haven’t lived personally, like stillbirth and surrogacy loss.
The YouTube channel now has over 18 million views and 18,500 subscribers. That number blows my mind. It’s bittersweet and a reminder of how many people are touched by infant loss, but also a sign that these stories matter and need a space to be witnessed.
💬 Therapy and Shifting Perspectives
Earlier this year, my husband and I began couples therapy, which has opened up new layers of grief I hadn’t addressed before. For a long time, I believed therapy “wasn’t for me” because I hadn’t found the right person. This year, that changed. Therapy has been challenging, emotional, and incredibly healing and I want to acknowledge the courage it takes for anyone to talk about their losses in such a raw way.
🤝 The Power of Peer Support
A turning point this year was when someone reached out asking to talk. I hesitated at first because I’m not a therapist, just someone who has lived this experience, but I decided to say yes. What started as an unexpected connection has become one of the most meaningful parts of my work. Holding space for others has helped me heal too. I now offer one-on-one peer support calls, and I hope to expand this offering in the coming year.
🛠 Building and Adapting the Vision
This year, I tried to launch an online course called Heal Your Way. While it didn’t quite take off, it taught me a lot about timing, pricing, and self-belief. Next year, I plan to create a monthly Healing Hub: a growing library of trauma-informed healing practices like breath work, meditation, yoga, journaling, all adapted for those navigating infant loss.
🌍 Dreams for the Future
I have big dreams for Healing After Infant Loss:
-
Wellness Walks in cities around the world, starting with Bangkok and London, to bring people together offline.
-
Books that share stories, daily reflections and professional insights.
-
An App to make healing tools accessible in one place.
-
Certification Courses to train others in peer support and holding space.
🌱 Lessons from Year One
This year has taught me that:
-
Grief looks different for everyone. There’s no one way to grieve.
-
Grief wants to be witnessed. People need their stories to be heard.
-
Talking helps. Conversations have been profoundly healing for me and for others.
-
Community matters. Even as a digital nomad, building this community has shown me how powerful connection can be.
This isn’t a sprint; it’s a marathon. I’m taking my time to build something meaningful and sustainable for myself, and for everyone who finds solace here.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Here’s to year two. 💛
Rosie
